Millie, Caly and Flo!

My evolving series of books, titled Millie, Caly and Flo (formerly Caly and Flo), follow the eponymous sisters, as they embark on amazing adventures thanks to a bright little magical blue feather. They are joined by their Grandma, who, through the wonderous pages of her photo album, sets the scene for Millie, Caly and Flo's escapades.

Millie is playful and creative, Caly is feisty, cheeky, and empathic. Flo is headstrong, energetic, and sharp-witted. Grandma is giving, thoughtful, and loves to share the wisdom from her experiences.

Whenever Millie, Caly and Flo look through Grandma's photo album, the magical feather appears, lifts off the page, and whisks the sisters away to somewhere different, based upon what was on the album page. Whether they go to the carnival, to the past to travel across the ocean with a much younger Grandma, or start their own business, Millie, Caly and Flo are full of inspiration, aspiration, warmth, and excitement for children aged 3 - 8, and sometimes beyond!

About the Author

Seymour Lavine is the writer of 'Caly and Flo and the Fantastic Feather', and other Millie, Caly and Flo books.

As a first-time writer of children's books, Seymour drew inspiration from his years as an animation workshop facilitator, where he encouraged children to create their own stories, including their versions of popular bedtime stories, for fun and to help grow their imaginations. However, Seymour had struggled to find many books featuring main characters that looked like the young people in his extended family (just like he had experienced as a child), realising there was still a growing need for such stories, books, and other media. A trip to the Caribbean helped Seymour to realise that he would focus on stories linking his parents' experiences of coming to the UK from the Caribbean to the everyday life experiences of children in the UK.
